The shop for the tea shop, which has been popular for 30 years, was migrated from the historical shop system ePages to Shopify. In the new Shopify shop, the corporate design was refreshed and some functions were added. A POS was connected for the busy shop. Result: 50% more clicks, 10% higher CTR, 25% more sales. And much easier operation of the backend by the shop managers.

The challenge

The Teeshop Berlin has been a place for tea lovers for over 30 years and is now run by the second generation. The range includes over 300 Ronnefeldt brand teas and a large selection of renowned tea manufacturers. It also offers accessories for preparing and storing tea - in-store and now also online as a Shopify shop.

Teeshop has a long-standing, broad customer base that also regularly orders tea and accessories online. The ageing online shop based on ePages was to be modernised in order to better meet contemporary requirements in terms of design, shop functions and reach. It was important to give the tea shop a fresher look and to make the brand tangible when shopping online without offending regular customers. At the same time, visibility in search engines could not be jeopardised by the changeover.

The solution

Shopify offers a professional platform for combining a brick-and-mortar store with an online channel, especially for a small retailer like Teeshop. The new shop was developed on the basis of a Shopify theme that is specially designed for multi-channel solutions with POS integration. Not without first working out all the requirements for the re-launch and development perspectives such as local pickup in a workshop together with the customer.

Teeshop is now ideally positioned for the coming years and can position itself strongly as an online speciality retailer in the segment. The appealing presentation of the products and the many conveniences of Shopify in terms of shop management, API integration, customer management and monitoring are a milestone in online business for our customer.

The result

The new shop was launched as Shopify Basic Package with configuration and theme styling developed by us - including the apps required for the German market (e.g. for cookie consent). The theme was customised and expanded in certain areas, e.g. with the integration of a custom font. As the project progressed, the shopping experience was rounded off with additional apps. Of course, the customer was initially trained in the Shopify backend, but was also intensively supported by our project management team throughout the entire project and advised on all questions.
