Many online shop operators ask themselves this question. As the managing director of an e-commerce agency, I am often asked for agency services. However, sometimes I deliberately recommend freelancers instead of our agency. Is that damaging to my business? Not at all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In certain situations, it even makes sense to hire a freelancer:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Specific tasks: <\/strong>Freelancers are often the better choice for clearly defined programming or design tasks that the online shop operator can judge for themselves.

\u2192 Small budget:<\/strong> If the budget is tight, it is not worth bearing the overheads of an agency. It makes more sense to invest your own time in project management for freelancers.

\u2192 Irregular demand:<\/strong> If tasks only arise occasionally, freelancers can react more flexibly without requiring a minimum turnover, which is often necessary for agencies.

The advantages are obvious:
<\/strong>
\u2192 Longer budget range:<\/strong> The budget is utilised more efficiently and control lies directly with the online shop operator.

\u2192 Building up expertise:<\/strong> The operator acquires in-depth knowledge about his shop and becomes a more competent contact for web developers.

\u2192 Focus on complex tasks:<\/strong> Agencies can concentrate on more demanding projects and play to their strengths through teamwork and technical set-up.

Of course, I lose a potential customer at first. But this honest advice pays off in the long term.

I take the time in the initial discussions to find out exactly what is needed and give an open assessment. Even if I'm not involved myself at first, both sides benefit. If the shop is stable and the operator has grown thanks to the support of freelancers, there is often a suitable opportunity for collaboration with our agency later on.
